In imToken version 2.16.0, the imKey hardware wallet officially supports Taproot and Native SegWit Bitcoin accounts. Before making transfers with these accounts, please ensure that the imKey firmware is upgraded to version 1.9.05. For detailed information on the firmware upgrade process, please refer to imKey Manager User Guide: How to Perform COS Upgrade.
Note: When creating or importing a Bitcoin wallet, the default address type is Taproot, with the derivation path m/86'/0'/0' (starting with "bc1p"). After adding an account, you can choose other address types based on your needs (Legacy, Nested SegWit, or Native SegWit).
How to Reconfigure the Device After the Firmware Upgrade?
- Open your phone settings, go to the "Bluetooth" option, find the corresponding imKey device name, and tap "Forget this Device."
- Open the imToken app and re-pair the imKey device. If you are prompted with "Device pairing information has changed, please unpair first, and then re-pair it.
How to Add Different Types of Bitcoin Addresses?
Before starting this process, ensure that your phone's Bluetooth is successfully connected to the imKey hardware wallet.
- Open imToken, go to "My Profile" - " Manage wallets," select the paired imKey hardware wallet, and tap "Add ."
- On the "Add accounts to wallet" page, under Layer 1, find the "Bitcoin" network icon. Tap the three dots in the upper right corner and select "Advanced ." Here, you can see four address types: Taproot, Native SegWit (Bech32), Nested SegWit (P2SH), and Legacy.
- Select the address type you want to add and tap "Confirm." Then, return to the wallet homepage, and you will see the newly added BTC address account.
Notes:
- Transaction fees for Native SegWit, Nested SegWit, and Taproot Bitcoin addresses are lower than those for Legacy addresses.
- Currently, only one account can be created for each Bitcoin address type under the same wallet generated from a single set of mnemonic phrases.
- Bitcoin tokens are not interoperable between different address types. If you need to transfer assets between different address types, simply do so through a standard transaction.
